It's sad, but true: I tell lies. When I said I'd write only as an audience member and without industry stuff, technical stuff, or professional stuff, I lied. I can't do it. For the past few months, I've been writing reviews for various things I've seen and then not posted any of them. 'Why?', I hear you ask. Well, in an attempt to hold course and not tell lies, I haven't posted any reviews that in any way have an inkling of nerd brain....which was all of them.
It's very much occurred to me that my personal opinion is informed by my professional experience and knowledge. Don't get me wrong, I don't sit around contrasting Haydn's Austrian and English periods or refuse to watch a film because it may have a mild case of the undead. But there are times I just cannot write without my nerd brain making a guest appearance.
That said, there are also times where the nerd brain is completely afk. For example, my minor obsession with terrible b-grade, midday movies. I know they're bad for me, I do, but I loves them. (Hello 3 Ninjas)
The point of all this: I cannot pretend my posts will be completely devoid of stuff - industry stuff, technical stuff, professional stuff. I'll try, but no more hold me to old promises.
