Friday Fix

It's Friday and time to check-in on the awesome stuff discovered during the week.

Watching
San Diego Comic-Con
SDCC is the convention for all things pop culture and SF, and has become the place for major film Star Trek: DiscoveryBright and The Giftedand bloody excited by Thor: Ragnarok (seriously can that be out already please????!). Cautiously optimistic over The Defenders, but Inhumans looks like the money could have been spent elsewhere. It's a weird mix this year, and not entirely unpredictable.
and TV property announcements and releases. Held over four days every July, it officially goes off and I've been planning to go for ages and it looks like 2018 might be my year. Anyways, the swathe of trailers that emerge after each SDCC is HUGGGGE and this year ain't no different. I'm super excited to see
Catch all the trailers over at this great Vulture article and you can hear my thoughts on the latest releases in a special SDCC edition of Lady Parts Podcast on 2 August.

Eating
Night Noodle Markets (South Bank Parklands)
Brisbane at night. So purdy!
If you're in the vicinity from 19-30 July, then it's worth a visit to the Night Noodle Markets delivered as part of Good Food Month. There's over 23 stalls selling food and drink, some names you'll recognise and some that you won't. Live music, installation artwork and general good vibes, the Night Noodle Markets are becoming a staple of Brisbane foodie calendar.
It's a pretty sweet night out, and I highly recommend hitting up stalls you've never visited before or sampling a limited edition dish from the more established restaurants. It's not street market cheap, but it's a relatively cheap night out esp if you score a table early and camp for the night.
This time of year it is freezing in Brisbane, so be sure to take a jacket and be prepared to wait for a table if you're the sit-and-eat type. BUT it's also dog-friendly which is A+ in my book (noodle + puppers, huzzah!)

What are you loving this week?
